Living spaces to grow, explore, and learn
Imagine a garden where every stone, every leaf, every scent becomes an opportunity for discovery. A place where nature meets education and children, girls, and boys can explore, climb, touch, listen, smell… live.
The Snail Gardens are outdoor educational spaces, furnished with natural materials and biodiversity corners. Not just simple green spaces, but places where nature and learning intertwine in an innovative way. Equipped with sensory paths, seating, climbing installations, and enriched with green works such as flowery meadows, fragrant islands, green huts, the Gardens meet educational needs and the increasing necessity to implement the natural capital of urban contexts.

“Being outside, in the open air, is good for you and boosts the immune system's defenses. Furthermore, it allows children to learn more spontaneously based on their free choice and the developmental stages they are currently experiencing”
Silvia Mozzi
Pedagogista di Koinè Cooperativa Sociale
In the Snail Gardens you can find:
- the “Gnomes’ Path”, a path consisting of small buried logs, on which children can test their balance;
- the “Sensory Path”, consisting of different natural materials, for the experimentation of the senses;
- the “Sound Hut”, a secluded place where children can sit or lie down to listen to the sounds of nature, including silence;
- the “Land of Lilliput”, a reproduction of a forest undergrowth that encourages children’s exploration, research, and promotes the ability to find and process information;
- the “tepee”, a hut where they can hide and be quiet.
A project that puts experience at the center
Every garden is co-designed together with female/male educators and teachers. This participatory approach allows for the creation of tailor-made spaces, designed to meet the real needs of those who use them.
Through carefully selected natural and artificial materials, the gardens offer significant experiences that help to:
- develop self-confidence,
- enhance social skills,
- learn to manage the small and great risks of nature.
Training and support (Formazione e accompagnamento)
The project is not limited to the creation of the space: we support female/male educators and teachers in all phases, from conception to daily use of the garden, with dedicated training programs.
For all ages (Per tutte le età)
Koinè’s Gardens can be implemented in nurseries, preschools, primary, and lower secondary schools. Younger children are guided in exploration, while older children actively participate in the planning and construction of the spaces.
